Summary:
He was 25 years-old at DFD, he was found frozen to death in a field. He was found near the outside a feed
plant on the south-eastern edge of the city naked from the waist up. Coroner
believes that Hypothermia sickness had him taking off his clothing believing he
was hot rather then cold. He was found two days after being released from
police custody after a long night of drinking and parting with his brother. It
is alleged that Rodney was dropped off on the out skirts of town in sub zero
temperatures wearing inadequate clothing and told to walk back to sober up by
RCMP officers. A Coroner’s Inquest was held and a 6 person’s jury
found no basis for charges to be laid in his death.
The police stat that Rodney Naistus file is deemed closed but is not
officially closed; the RCMP will not investigate his death until substantial
evidence surfaces to warrant such. The Coroner’s Inquest ended with an
undetermined death, no further investigation was commenced to clear the
unanswered question that a raised during the Inquest.
