RCMP: Media release

6-Dec-02: 64232-6

Summary:

She was 37 years-old at DFM, she was last seen in the Downtown Eastside on 2-Mar-99. She was reported missing on 14-Mar-01. Her DNA was found on the Robert’s Coquitlam pig farm. It is believed that her body was dismembered and fed to the animals on the farm.

Robert was arrested and charged with multiple counts of First-degree murder on 22-Feb-02. Pickton’s trail was set for 8-Jan-07.

An 18 month investigation on the farm found approximately 32 different female DNA sources through out the property. Only 27 charges were originally placed against Robert with approximately 4 other women’s cases either pending identification or more evidence.

Judge James Williams placed a publication ban on court proceedings on 6-Dec-02. He also rejected one un-identified female for lack of evidence on 2-Mar-06. On 9-Aug-06 he reduced the charges again from 26 to 6 counts with the opportunity to seek another trail for the other 20 cases after the conclusion of the first trail.

On 9-Dec-07 after 9 days of deliberation the jury returned a verdict of ‘Guilty to six counts of Second-degree murder’.

On 11-Dec-07 BC Supreme Court Judge James Williams sentenced Robert to life, serving six life sentenced concurrently with no eligibility for parole for 25 years.

Sereena Abbostaway, Yvonne Boen, Andrea Borhaven, Heather Chinnock, Wendy Crawford, Dawn Crey, Sarah DeVries, Jane Doe 1-3, Tiffany Drew, Cara Ellis, Cynthia Feliks, Marine Frey, Jennifer Furminger, Inga Hall, Helen Hallmark, Tanya Holyk, Sherry Irving, Angela Jardine, Andrea Joesbury, Patricia Johnson, Debra Jones, Kerry Koski, Jacqueline McDonell, Diana Melnick, Georgina Papin, Diane Rock, Mona Wilson, Brenda Wolfe are Robert’s other victims.
